The iPad

We mentioned the iPad (and even guessed its name before it was announced) in our Hot List, but we think the iPad deserves its own entry.

Some are poo-pooing the silly name, or the fact that it’s just a giant iPod Touch, but we think it’s going to be a big deal. How? That giant touchscreen will mean more fun games and apps, and a better—maybe the best—way to read books, magazines, and comics on a handheld device!

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

They say there’s never been a good video game movie…but we think the Prince of Persia movie will change all that. Why? Let’s count the ways.

One, the video game it’s based on is good stuff, and the original game creator is writing the story. Second, the guys behind Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Pirates of the Caribbean are making it, and if they can make cool movies out of a book and a theme park ride, then you know they can make one out of a video game. Third, and last…have you seen the trailer!?

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

The original came out years and years ago, but expect StarCraft II to heat up, and melt down, Internet cafes everywhere!

Command armies of Terrans (spacefaring human cowboys), Zerg (creepy alien bugs), and Protoss (psychic alien dudes) in a battle for the galaxy. Plus, Wings of Liberty will only be the first part in the SC2 trilogy—expect two more games to roll out and conquer very soon.
