TOP OF THE TOPS: MOVIE POSTERS
In our September 2011 issue, we've got the Top of the Tops list, where we list down our choice picks in offbeat categories, like "Top Phineas & Ferb Inventions" and "Top Made-up Places To Live In". One of our categories is "Top Movie Posters Of the Past 10 Years". Of course, we only had space to put in five...here are others who didn't make the cut! Don't forget to catch our September ish to read our full Top of the Tops List!
First, here are our the top five movie posters you saw in the mag:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief

Spider-Man 3

Superman Returns

Tangled
Now, here are our other five picks, arranged in alphabetical order.

The Last Airbender
When we first saw the posters for The Last Airbender (especially this one), we were really excited. Something about Aang's pose, the smoky, icy Airbender effect, the Water Tribe city in the background, plus the whole mysterious vibe really made us think that the movie would nail the epicness of the cartoon. Uh, guess we were probably wrong on that one.

Despicable Me
One of the cutest posters ever! The whole fit-as-many-characters-as-you-can-inside-the-picture trick is one great way of making a movie poster (Toy Story 3 also did this), but this one is really effective. Why? Because even if it's basically just one character, you still get the idea that each Minion is distinct, funny, full of personality, and yeah, super-cute.

High School Musical 3
Whether you're a fan or not, this is really one neat looking poster. Remember the first HSM poster, with that ugly-looking showbiz-light logo and tacky curtain background? Well, the HSM 3 poster took the most iconic part of the series -- the famous HSM jump -- and put it in this simple, effective little one-sheet. We like the way we changed up the logo, too, even if you have to tilt your head a little to look at it.

This Is It
Props to the guys behind the MJ movie for making this iconic shot. The nimble pose, the raised hands, the stylish hat -- there's no doubt that that silhouette is the King of Pop himself. (Well, it could be the Undertaker, too, now that we think about it.) The concert pictures sell the drama, and we like the way they were able to sneak in the movie title across MJ-the-silhouette's chest. All in all, a fantastic tribute image to one of the greatest popstars of all time!

Where the Wild Things Are
A great flick deserves a great one-sheet. It's awesome that the poster doesn't show that big creature's full face. What is it? What does it look like? What is it up to? The strange costume on the little kid adds to the mystery. But Max sure looks like he's having fun, and with a font like that, it makes you even more curious about what the movie's gonna be about. We really love the tag line, too.
