Load your muskets, ready your stances, and straighten your frilly collars: Granado Espada is going live. Launched today near the SM Mall of Asia, we dropped by the big launch party to have a look-see at the game’s new features…and of course, catch uber-cool band Sino Si Kat performing onstage.
e-Games was kind enough to give us free stuff (namely, a CD of the game, a 30-day unlimited play game card, and a Granado Espada t-shirt), but rather than keep it piggedly to ourselves, we’ve decided to give it to you, our dear Ka-Blog readers. More details after the jump!
Okay, just to get the most important part out of the way: Granado Espada is NOT going to be free-to-play. You’re going to have to pay to play, with e-pins and cards at P300 (30 days unlimited play, plus 3,000 G-points to buy items), P100 (10 days, 1,200 G-points) and P50 (5 days, 600 G-points). There’s been a bit of grousing about the pay to play (especially since GE‘s publisher e-Games once carried the tagline ‘Free to Play Forever’)…but hey, that’s the way the ship sails, so we’re all just going to have to live with it.
We wrote an article about GE in our May 2007 issue, but a few things have shaped up since then. The biggest new feature, of course, is the Royalists vs. Republicans battle royal. Through the Colony Wars, guilds…er, factions will now fight for a free New World (if they side with the Republicans) or a New World that’s still under the queen (if they’re Royalists). Bonuses abound for the winning side…plus a chance to elect a leader — a Duke for the Royalists, and a President for the Republicans! If you’re into guild-on-guild fisticuffs, the Royalist/Republican rumble should be an entertaining event that neatly dovetails into the game’s main story.
THE RIGHT STUFF
Of course, new features also include the Mercenary Contract, where you can loan/trade your characters to other Families; the Premium Item Shop, the place to splurge those G-Points; Baron Costumes for those much-loved (and feared) player killers; and brand-new monsters and costumes.
But let’s stop with the talking, and get on with the prize-giving! If you want to win the CD installer, the P300 game card, and a Granado Espada t-shirt, just answer the following question below:
Are you a Republican? Or a Royalist? Why?
Ha-ha! Thought it would be a quick ‘n’ easy question, eh? Give any sort of answer you want — even if you don’t know anything about Granado Espada! Just leave a comment here, and I’ll put up the winning answer in a future post.
